AI continues to redefine the way we connect and express ourselves. At Connect today, we introduced a host of new AI experiences and features designed to enrich your connections, fostering creativity, expression, and productivity.

AI Stickers

The delightful world of stickers on our platforms just got even more exciting. We’re thrilled to announce the introduction of AI stickers, a revolutionary way to effortlessly create personalized stickers for your chats and stories. Powered by Llama 2 technology and our Emu image generation model, this AI tool transforms your text prompts into a myriad of unique, high-quality stickers in mere seconds. Rolling out to select English-language users over the next month on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook Stories, AI stickers offer an infinite array of options to convey your emotions with flair.

Moreover, the upcoming Restyle and Backdrop features on Instagram will utilize Emu’s technology, allowing you to reimagine your images with specific visual styles or change the scene/background seamlessly.

Ensuring transparency in AI-generated content is crucial to us. Images created with Restyle and Backdrop will clearly indicate the use of AI, and we’re experimenting with visible and invisible markers for added clarity.

An Assistant Spanning Apps and Devices

Meet Meta AI, your new assistant available on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and soon on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3. Fueled by Llama 2 technology and our latest large language model (LLM) research, Meta AI offers real-time information through our Bing search partnership and provides image generation tools in text-based chats.

Imagine planning a hiking trail with friends; Meta AI can surface options directly in the chat, facilitating group decision-making. After the hike, unleash your creativity by instructing Meta AI to generate a digital merit badge commemorating the day.

A Universe of Characters at Your Fingertips

Our exploration of AIs goes beyond question-answering. We’re introducing 28 additional AIs on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, each with a unique backstory and a touch of personality. Partnering with cultural icons and influencers to embody these AIs adds an extra layer of familiarity. From dance enthusiasts to seasoned athletes, these AIs, embodied by personalities like Charli D’Amelio, Chris Paul, Kendall Jenner, and more, aim to make interactions more engaging.

In our beta rollout starting today in the United States, we’ll be introducing characters played by Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, Josh Richards, and others in the coming weeks.

What’s Coming Next

Today, we unveiled AI Studio, the platform supporting AI creation. Soon, we’ll open it to people outside of Meta, allowing both coders and non-coders to build AIs. Developers can leverage our APIs to build third-party AIs for messaging services, starting on Messenger and expanding to WhatsApp. Businesses can create brand-centric AIs for improved customer interactions, launching in alpha and expanding next year. Creators, too, can extend their virtual presence with AIs, under their control.

Additionally, we’re launching a sandbox next year, allowing anyone to experiment with creating their AI. As our universe of AIs expands, the sandbox will evolve, bringing realistic, embodied, and connected AIs to the metaverse.
