Katy Perry has sold her music catalogue to Litmus Music for $225m (€182m). The company, a subsidiary of private equity group, The Carlyle Group announced the acquisition on Monday (18 September).

The sale covers all five albums Perry released for Capitol Records, from 2008’s One of the Boys to 2020’s smile, which collectively include 16 multi-platinum singles.

Litmus launched in 2022 with its first major buy being Keith Urban’s rights to his master recordings. Notably, Universal Music Group continues to own the masters to the 5 albums sold by Katy Perry.

The sale comes amid a flurry of deals by artists to sell their back catalog, with recent sales including Metro Boomin, Justin Bieber, Future, Justin Timberlake, Sting, Neil Diamond among others.
